Privacy

Your agent history should not require another cloud.

Masthead is built around local-first collection and indexing. The boundary depends on the sources, enrichment provider, and connected agents you configure.

Operating modes

Choose how session context moves.

Fully local

  • local storage
  • local enrichment
  • local model

Session records stay on the machine when every configured part is local.

Bring your own model

  • local storage
  • user-configured provider

Only enrichment requests you configure are sent to the provider you choose.

Connected agent retrieval

  • Masthead stays local
  • retrieved context is passed to the agent you choose

MCP retrieval uses the local session library, then shares selected context with the agent you choose.

Boundary note

Local-first does not mean every configuration is offline.

Masthead can keep storage and indexing on your machine. If you configure a hosted model provider or connect an agent that receives retrieved context, those configured systems may receive the selected data needed for that operation.
